Podcasting , Technology Any system is only as good as the weakest link in the chain and audio systems are certainly no exception to the rule. Attaching speakers to your Hi-Fi system usually only requires a few cables. These potential problems are easy to spot with a few simple tests and luckily the corresponding remedies are equally simple. Left and Right Tests In the grand scale of things, getting your left and right speakers mixed up is not a major problem. Record producers and mix engineers spend weeks mixing and producing an album and as part of the process they will decide where in the mix to place certain instruments. Then try the following two fairly self explanatory tests on your music system. You will need to check the wiring of your system, rewiring where necessary and then repeat the two tests to make sure that both channels are working and in the correct order. The following diagram shows how to wire your speakers to your amplifier:
Connecting single speaker to stereo amp..
The stock BMW setup is that the full front channels go to the underseat subs first then on to the doors, so you’ll need to split this so you can power the sub and doors independently. Basically you’ll take the front line-out from the head unit and run to your line-in on the amp. From there you’ll run new speaker wiring to the underseat subs, use ch on the amp and run in low pass. For the doors, again you’ll run new speaker wire from ch from the amp down to where you cut the wire from the sub, you want the wire that goes to the doors.
Feel free to try and run the new cable into the doors, it’s a complete PITA so I would be inclined to use the stock wiring from the sub to the doors. The crossover will use the wiring into the doors, you just need to split this out to the mid and tweeter.
This is determined by how you wire your subs to your amp. If you get an amp that’s bridgeable to mono, then you can wire your subs in series. You will get much more thump if y ou do it this way. However, make certain that your amp is bridgeable, and stable down to 2 or even 1 Ohms.
I read your reviews of the latest releases and have a general question that has been nagging me for some time. Given that both the TV and the player have about as good quality video processing capabilities as are around at present, what is the point of having the receiver do the video processing? It is unlikely to surpass or even equal what the TV can do as the manufacturer will have configured it specifically for that make and model.
Isn’t it more likely that a generic receiver will do worse? The primary function of a receiver is to process audio and drive the speakers. All that is required of it as far as video is concerned is that it can pass through video signals to the TV unmolested. Incorporating a lot of video processing only means that the audio processing will get less spent on it than if video were only passed through to the TV. If it does more than that with video, either the price of the receiver will be higher or the quality of the audio will be lower, neither of which is of benefit to the user, only the manufacturer.
So there’s the question. When can we expect to see a receiver with up-to-date video pass-through capability but concentrates processing on achieving the best audio.

Whether it’s an installation that might not have gone as planned, or a random problem that comes out of nowhere. Here is a list of your common car stereo problems, symptoms and solutions to help get your stereo up and running! Many Jeeps and Chevrolet systems have a data signal wire that carries a very low voltage signal that tells the OEM Head Unit when to turn on, however; it is not compatible with aftermarket units.
If you have a voltage meter or a test light, test the ground black , constant 12v yellow , and accessory 12v red wires to make see if you have the correct voltage in the correct wires, as well as a good ground. Constant will always be 12v, whether or not your car is on. Make sure to use your ground, as well as another ground like the frame or body of the car while testing your constant and accessory to test that you have a good ground.
If you find that one of your power wires or ground wires are not correct, check your vehicle wire diagram and make sure you have the correct corresponding power and ground wires. After finding the location of the fuse, pull it and make sure that the leads are not corroded and that the fuse has not been broken or popped.
Mono amp and 3 subs
You can actually grab your inputs from the speakers on your rear deck. I wish it was that easy, I really appreciate the advise though. I only have the 4 6X9″ in the doors. The rear deck is empty so that is where I am going to mount my subs, mimicking the factory setup. So I will haft to go searching for the speaker wires. But I do have a lead on what the color codes are.
May 15, · You can also run one sub off the inuke in Bridged mono at ~w into 4ohms or if you had two dual voice coil subs you could wire series/parallel for 4ohm. etc, etc. How would you bridge that amp with the connections it has there forgive my ignorance I am used to car amps and such so this is slightly different.
You need to run another power wire or you can get a distribution block and split up the wire you already have ran for power. The ground wire you can just connect to a good grounded bolt holding the seats down or something. And as for the RCAs just get a spliter for those too. And on the Kicker subs, The deal with them is that they say that both voice coils MUST be hooked up at all times of it will mess them up A friend of mune had that problem. With the dual 2ohm Kicker’s you can either wire them in 1ohm or 4ohm.
You want to wire that accordingly to what you amp can handle. So I went with the dual 4ohm Kicker S15L7 so that I could wire it in 2ohm the dual 4ohm can be wired in either 2 or 8ohm for one channel of my amp. And I will have a 2ohm load going to the other channel. I would have went with the dual 2ohm if my amp could handle a 1ohm load.
I am doing good with what I got for now. I am fixing to try and add to Kicker 12’s to what I already have.
What kind of amplifier do you need for 2 subwoofers
I have a jl stealthbox for a tacoma. I am confused about choosing an amp for it. I have seen on crutchfield that the sub itself is a dvc at 4 ohms and the stealthbox is a 2ohm and its confusing me on which amp to match it with preferably a jl. Second question is about a LOC. I know i should go upgrade HD first before doing a sub but i have a sub on me and will be upgrading HD down the road and want to make use of this sub.
How You can hook the subs voice coil in series for 4 ohms per sub then hook the subs up in paralle to the amp or you can hook the subs VC’s in parallel for a 1 Ohm load per sub then hook them up in series to the amp.
February 3, I have the AMP and am currently using it to power my 2 front speakers in my 7. Would the AMP be able to power the subwoofer in addition to my 2 front speakers? Also, which subwoofer do you recommend of the two noted? The location would be lower front left corner of room approx. Thank you for your help! Good question, but I do not believe the AMP will help you out.
Plus placement of your sub woofer can be critical. The advantage of the bulky sub woofer is you have the ability of determining where the best location for most bass is for your room being it is a self powered dedicated enclosure. Of course since you already have it you can place the bulky sub in front of the location you are planning to install the sub in the wall and see how it sounds compared to its original location.
The problem with the low frequencies is the size of the sign way that can create dead zones in the room.
